A MESSAGE FROM COUNCILLOR MATTHEW OFFORD
Matthew Offord was elected as a Councillor in Hendon in 2002 and his hard work was recognised when he was appointed to the Cabinet, later becoming Deputy Leader of the Council.
He was instrumental in:
* Introducing a Resident Parking Policy, which has reduced the number of parking tickets issued
* Launching a popular recycling service that has seen recycling rates jump to over 30%
* Pioneering an effective traffic management policy which has witnessed the number of killed and seriously injured fall by over 45%
Matthew says,
Delivering these real life changes for local people has given me the experience to stand up for Hendon’s hard working residents in Parliament and ensure a more efficient use of taxpayers’ hard earned cash.
It irritates me to see the Labour Government’s unacceptable waste of residents’ money:
* Spent over £13 billion on a failing NHS Computer system
* Spent £13,000 on Christmas Cards for one Government department alone
* Spent £164,000 for a new logo for a Government Agency
* Spent over £250,000 on renaming a Government department
* Spent £280,000 on a conference to discuss value for money in the public services
This is what I believe:
* Individuals make better choices about their own lives than politicians and I will fight every attempt to introduce the Government’s ID card bill and their continued intrusion into our private lives
* Our armed forces must have the resources to meet their commitments and make sure our Country can properly defend itself
* We must restore Britain’s personal pension system and I will support our residents who have worked and saved all their lives, only to have their pensions raided by Gordon Brown
* The NHS has been damaged by Labour’s obsession with targets and top-down management. Power and trust must return to our doctors and nurses
* Our teachers must be free to teach by ability and discipline unruly pupils without fear their decisions will be overturned
Only the Conservatives can beat Labour in Hendon. Labour have a tiny majority of 2699 and it would take a swing of just 3.25% to win. If you are ready for change VOTE CONSERVATIVE.
